CHARISM
The Caritas Secular Institute is a community which, as one inspired by perfect charity and committed to a true and full profession of the Evangelical Counsels, is devoted completely to the evangelisation of the world. It fulfils this mission under the authority of the Archbishop, preserving at the same time its own secular character and carrying out effectively, not only in the world but also in some sort as originating from the world, the Apostolate for which it was founded (PC. 11; AG .40; PF. 11).
The particular charism of the Institute is to help towards the realization of the Kingdom of God in this world, especially by working for the sick, the poor and the needy with Christian love and compassion. It is a continuation of the serving ministry of Jesus, the divine healer, which demands of us to work for the integral health and growth of our brethren. By our witness of life as well as through our works of service we are to manifest the redeeming love of Christ to others, especially to the sick and the socially marginalised, whereby we become the ministers of God’s saving love and mercy in Christ and the transformers of humanity into the measure of His fullness (Eph. 4: 7-13).
The members will work in the medical and social institutions of the Archeparchy of Kottayam and co-operate with the services of other institutions and associations in so far as they are compatible with our secular and consecrated life.
